What is the PTC Carnival?
It
is a HUGE Community Carnival for the Prior Lake/Savage Community.
It is a fundraiser for the Elementary Schools, hosted by the PTC’s
(Parents, Teachers, Children).
When is the Carnival?
It is Saturday, April 9th, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where is it held?
It
will be held at the Prior Lake/Savage High School located in Savage,
Minnesota. There will be activities in both gyms, the walking
track (on the 2nd floor), and in the commons area.
Who organizes it?
It’s a combined effort of the PTC’s from Five Hawks, Glendale, Grainwood, Jeffers Pond, Redtail Ridge, Westwood.
Is it a fundraiser?
Yes, it’s a fundraiser for the PTC’s. The profits are split evenly between the elementary schools.
What kind of things are at the Carnival?
We
have food, games, crafts, inflatable jumpers, a huge silent auction, a
Wizard of Oz attraction, and a Haunted House. We have games for
all ages.
Do we need volunteers?
Yes!
We need over a 200 volunteers for each of our three shifts. When
we run out of volunteers, we have to close down some games.
What are some of the big attractions for kids?
The
Haunted House, the Freaky First Aid Station, the Wizard of Oz, PLINKO,
the Big $ Wheel, Jail & Bail, Deal or No Deal, The Money Booth and
the prizes…including our BIG prizes!
What is the big attraction for the adults?
We
have a HUGE Basket Bonanza Silent Auction. We raffle off over 350
theme baskets (such as Chocolate Lovers, Family Game Night, Vikings,
Garden Supplies, etc.) And over 100 gift certificates to local
businesses. This is a very popular event for all of the adults
who attend.
Is the Haunted House scary?
Yes,
our Haunted House is scary. We do not recommend it for young
children. If your child wants to go thru it, we recommend that
you accompany them. Children have to pay admission, but parents
are free.
What is the Wizard of Oz?
Dorothy
will take you on a journey down the Yellow Brick Road, if you can get
past the tornado. On your journey you will see Munchkin Land,
meet some interesting friends (the Scarecrow, the Tin man & the
Lion) before coming to the Emerald City. But beware, because
there may be a Wicked Witch that tries to interfere with your
plans. You don’t want to miss this. Children
have to pay admission, but parents are free.
Is there an admission cost to the Carnival?
No, entrance to the carnival is free. To play the games/activities you need to purchase tickets.
How do I get tickets?
The week before Carnival we have a pre-sale for tickets at
each of our elementary schools. Reminder notes will be sent home
with students. You may also purchase your tickets at the door.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets cost 50 cents each. The games vary in cost, with most of them costing 1 to 2 tickets to play.
How does the prize system work?
When
you purchase your tickets, you will also receive a stamp card.
The games vary in what you win. Some things you just play for fun
(example: Inflatables, Haunted House). Some games you can
win a prize right away (example: Fish Pond or the Duck
Pond). Some games you can win a “stamp” on your card (example:
Tuff Putt, PLINKO). When you are done playing, you may take your
stamp card to the Prize Center and cash in your “stamps” for a bigger
prize.
What is the Gold Coin?
You
can win “Gold Coins” to be turned in at the “Gold Coin Booth” for a
chance at a raffle for one of our BIG prizes. This year the
gold coin winners will walk away with a Xbox Kinect, an iPod, a
Nintendo DSi, a Smart Cycle for Toddlers, an Amazon Kindle or a Valley
Fair Season passes (2 gold level).
How can I donate to the carnival?
All
of the students in each elementary will be bringing home info about
their classroom’s basket theme assignment. We ask that you help
donate products to help create your child’s classroom basket. The
generous donations of our parents is what makes our basket auction a
huge success.
Thank you for supporting our schools.
